About this Calculator 💡
The Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS-v1.1) 6-Question Screener is a widely used tool developed in conjunction with the World Health Organization (WHO) to assess the presence and frequency of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder symptoms in adults (18+). It is crucial to note that it is a screening questionnaire and not a standalone diagnostic tool; a positive result suggests the need for a more thorough clinical evaluation. The screener consists of 6 items, which are considered the most predictive of ADHD. For each item, the respondent indicates the frequency with which they experienced the symptom over the past 6 months, using a 5-point scale ("Never", "Rarely", "Sometimes", "Often", "Very Often"). The scoring is dichotomous (0 or 1); depending on the question, only the higher frequency responses (such as "Often" and "Very Often," or sometimes including "Sometimes") receive 1 point. A score of 4 or more (out of 6) is considered a positive screen, indicating the individual's symptoms are highly consistent with ADHD and that a full diagnostic assessment by a professional is warranted.
Reference Values
- •POSITIVE SCREENING: 4 or more positive responses indicate a symptom profile highly consistent with ADHD in adults and warrants further clinical evaluation.
- •NEGATIVE SCREENING: Less than 4 positive responses indicate low probability of ADHD based on recent symptoms.
Formula
Calculation Methodology Count of items where response value >= positiveThreshold. Total score is the sum of raw values.
